Rwanda president Kagame demands winning mentality from Arsenal

 Rwanda's president Paul Kagame has made an infrequent use of his Twitter account to express his dismay at hs beloved Arsenal after their loss to newly-promoted Brentford on the opening day of the 2021/22 Premier League season.



He said:

What?? It's football,it's a loss of Arsenal at/to Brentford. Brentford deserved to win and they did. The game itself aside Arsenal and the fans don't deserve to kind of get used to this....NO !!! I say this as one of the big fans of Arsenal. The change has taken to long to come!


It's been a struggle of about decade(s) -ups&downs-more downs until this point. Can't we have a plan that really works?? One part to look at is how we deal in the market- players we buy to execute the plan. The touch&go mentality does not bring change.

We just must NOT excuse or Accept mediocrity. A team has to be built with purpose to win win win. So that when we lose....it was not to be expected! I am sure we all know on whose shoulders the heaviest burden rests. I hope they know too or even accept it!!! End

And if you ask whether this matters, well his country, through Visit Rwanda  is one of the club's major sponsors. And when a sponsor speaks out, the client has to listen.

The reality is that Arsenal are a bit odd now. They are a club which can do a job but they are made fun for how far they have fallen rather than their perceived capabilities.

Kagame is right in that the fans do jnot see a plan and much is 'touch&go'. He also has highlighted what is lacking. That is a team 'built with purpose to win win win'. As it stands, Arsenal seem happy to stick around and pretend that they want those top positions based on bottom half spending. 

At this point it is useless to blame Mikel Arteta.

You don't have to tell us the plan. Show us what looks like one. 

I apply genius wherever it is needed.

The first time I heard he was joining Arsenal, I didnt bat an eyelid. Mind you I was preparing for my O Level exams at the time and let's face it, the Arsenal were not setting the stage alight so who would blame them for signing some French fella. Bloody Everton

They just sat back and sat back and boy were they rubbish. I agree with Arsene Wenger it is pathetic when a team comes to set up shop and have absolutley no interest in winning the match by actually playing football. Negative football is awful. Credit to Arsenal who refused to be beaten. As for Robin Van Persie, he is realvly coming to the party now. I have always thought he was more dangerous from the setpiece than our esteemed Henry. Dont get me wrong, Thierry is a demi-god but RvP has a left foot that redefines the word dangerous. So Rooney scores and the press reckon he is the greatest thing since they invented football. Rubbish I am interested in tomorrow's Barca v Chelsea. Chavski weren;'t that hot on Saturday while Ronnie was interested to say the least. But as for Arsenal, Moscow visiting should be peeing in theur pants now...

And it finally happened

Jose Antonio Reyes was the best Arsenal player on show at Charlton. He harried, tried and he scored. His confidence is coming back now. For the first time since I can be bothered to remember, Thierry had something good to say about Reyes. We have heard him say all manner of things about RvP11 and seemingly clueless Quincy. But he has never yp my recollection gone on record praising JAR9. Depending on which rag you read he said "Jose deserved the goal because he worked a lot. Not only him but I want to talk about him specially because we need him to do this kind of performance for us. This was magnificent." I said it when he came to the Arsenal, that the spaniard was a warrior, he has pace, guile, grit and determination. He gets knocked down and he keeps coming back. He is a fighter who has never been given anything for free in life and I am pretty sure that he will be a great player for the Arsenal. He just needs someone to say publicly from time to time that he has done well...
